Save Your Identity and Secure Your Devices
Objectives
Why It's Useful
Three months later, Léa changes her phone. She imports her backup, enters her encryption key, and retrieves her identity in two minutes. Her colleague Hugo, on the other hand, had not backed anything up: he had to ask the administrator to replace his VaultysID.
Your identity is stored on your phone. A backup allows you to retrieve it in case of change, loss, or theft. Since this phone now opens all your applications, it must also be well protected.
Your Turn
Export a Backup
- In VaultysID, choose your profile, then open Settings.
- Tap on Export a backup.
- Switch from Plain text mode to Encrypted mode. A plain text backup is readable by anyone who gets the file.
- Copy the encryption key and keep it in a safe place, for example on paper or in a personal safe. You will need it for restoration.
- Tap on Export and keep the downloaded file in a safe place.
Know How to Restore (Reading)
On a new phone: gear icon at launch, or Settings tab, then Import a backup, Choose a file, and finally the encryption key. → Import your identities
Secure Your Phone and PC
-
Check on your phone:
- updates;
- a strong PIN and biometrics;
- applications installed only from official stores;
- remote location ("Find My iPhone" or "Find My Device").
-
Do the same on your computer:
- the system is up to date;
- antivirus and firewall are active;
- the browser is up to date, with verified extensions.
Lock it remotely, then notify your VaultysHub administrator. They can send you a link to replace your VaultysID, or create a temporary access if you simply forgot your phone.
