In case of forgetting your phone

You forgot your phone with the VaultysID application? So you can't log in to SmartLink. What to do?

Security model

First of all, it is important to understand that the security model to prevent identity theft is based on the decentralization of the login system. In theory, without your VaultysID, you cannot log in. Neither you, nor the administrator, nor a hacker. Nobody.

As the person responsible for the security of your company's entire information system, you must be aware of potential vulnerabilities. Obviously, in practice, forgetfulness is always possible. In SmartLink, the administrator has the option to add a temporary VaultysID to restore your access.

For security reasons, we will never automate the temporary unlocking process. Why? It's very simple. This is precisely where cybercriminals would try to attack your company. In terms of security, every human error must be handled by a human. This is the only way to limit the risk of hacking. A hacker will never be involved in direct human-to-human relationships.

Procedure

The procedure to unlock access for your collaborator is available for Premium or Platinum licenses.

  1. Go to the user menu and click on the user's configuration button who has lost their access.
  2. In the "Associated Vaultys" menu, click on Add.
  3. A QR code will appear, it must be scanned by a new temporary device configured with the VaultysID application.
  4. Once the connection is finalized, the user can temporarily log in with this new device and will benefit from their previously configured environment.

Recommendations

  • It is essential not to leave this new identifier connected to the user's account for an extended period. We recommend deleting it after 24 hours, allowing the user to recover their original identifier.
  • If your collaborator has permanently lost their original access, you can maintain this new identifier. However, make sure that no one else can obtain the lost identifier.
  • In case of doubt, for example if the user has lost their phone, it is recommended to deactivate the user in SmartLink and create a new user with the new identifier.
